Thyroid Awareness Month, led by the American Thyroid Association each January, is a timely reminder that thyroid disease is often underdiagnosed because symptoms can be non-specific. The conversation shouldn’t stop just because the calendar has moved on.
To support assay development and customer discussions, we’re sharing a concise, updated brochure on thyroid diseases. It summarizes key role of core biomarkers, including thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroglobulin (Tg) and anti-Tg antibodies (TgAb), thyroid peroxidase (TPO), thyroxin (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3).
Alongside Hytest’s legacy products, this updated brochure features our enhanced-performance additions for TSH and Tg/TgAb. It reflects our commitment to scientific excellence and continuous innovation to support assay development and improve customer outcomes. Below are a few highlights from the updated brochure:
1. Novel sheep TSH monoclonal antibody highlights (Cat. # 2TS11cc MAbs TS13, TS18, TS21, TS25, TS3, TS32)
- Ultra-low TSH quantification: novel sheep TSH antibodies enable quantification of extremely low TSH levels in human serum. Prototype immunoassays achieved functional sensitivity < 0.001 µIU/mL.
- Strong comparability: TSH prototype immunoassays showed strong correlation with the Roche Elecsys TSH assay (R² > 0.99)
- R55G variant coverage: these antibodies recognize both wild-type TSH and the R55G variant, supporting accurate detection in samples from individuals carrying the mutation
- High specificity: No cross-reactivity was observed with other glycoprotein hormones
2. Tg highlights (Cat. # 2TG12cc MAbs TG12, TG14, TG16, TG23, TG33, TG36, TG37, TG46, TG47, TG64)
- No/low interference from TgAb: Prototype assays using Hytest Tg antibodies showed no detectable interference from TgAb on the CLIA platform
- High sensitivity: Prototype assays achieved ≤ 0.02 ng/mL sensitivity on a CLIA platform.
- Strong comparability: Prototype assay (TG47-TG64) also demonstrated very high correlation with Roche Elecsys TG II assay. (R² = 0.99)
3. Anti-Tg ( TgAb ) highlights (Cat. # 2TG12cc MAbs TG08, TG51, TG61, TG66)
- Designed for anti-Tg quantification: TG08, TG51, and TG61 are intended for immunoassays that quantitatively measure anti-thyroglobulin antibodies (TgAb).
- Improved sensitivity and correlations: using a mixture of TG08 (primary) with TG66 (supplemental) or TG61 (primary) with TG66 (supplemental) at a 3:1 ratio increased correlation with the Roche Elecsys anti-Tg assay (R² > 0.9
